Murray County VINE Coverage
Georgia VINE through VINELink is the statewide portal for custody status, criminal-case information, service-provider routing, and notification registration. Coverage depends on the agencies and records participating in the portal. That distinction matters in Murray County. A result may reflect a county jail or Georgia state custody event when the record is supplied, but the portal is not a complete archive of every booking, transfer, or release.
The service is best used for one identified person. It may report a release, transfer, escape, death, or other custody change supported by the agency feed. It does not replace the Murray County Jail booking or release record, a court disposition, or the Georgia Department of Corrections offender record. The responsible office can explain whether leaving one facility meant release to the community or transfer into another custody system.
The Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council describes statewide automated notification as available online, by phone, and through mobile access, with multilingual support and round-the-clock availability. The captured state announcement shows why VINE is useful as a prompt notification layer.
That state service description supports alerts and access. It does not promise that every Murray County custody event appears without delay.
Search a Murray County Inmate
Start with the person's full legal name and another reliable identifier. Common names, nicknames, and spelling changes can produce an uncertain match. The goal is not merely to find a similar name. It is to connect the right person with the right agency and custody record.
- Open the Georgia portal and select the person or offender search.
- Enter the first and last name. Add a date of birth, record ID, or other filter when the interface offers one.
- Review all likely matches. Compare identifiers and the listed agency before selecting a result.
- Open the matching record and note the custody status, agency or facility, and record details.
- If the status indicates release, contact the named agency for the release date, reason, and destination when those facts are needed.
A partial-name query can help when spelling is uncertain, but it raises the chance of choosing the wrong record. If no match appears, do not conclude that the person was never booked or has been released. Call Murray County Jail at (706) 695-4593 for a local arrest, or use the GDC search for a person serving a Georgia prison sentence. The full custody-system workflow is covered in the Murray County released-inmate search.
Murray County VINE Release Fields
Labels can differ by agency and may change as the portal is updated. Read the record as a status notice, not as a court judgment. The most useful fields connect the person to the office that supplied the event.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name or identifier | Helps distinguish the subject from people with similar names. |
| Custody status | Shows the status reported by the participating agency, including a release event when supported. |
| Agency or facility | Identifies which jail or corrections source should confirm the record. |
| Custody event | May report release, transfer, escape, death, or another change. |
| Notification option | Allows registration for supported alerts tied to that record. |
A released label means the person left the custody represented by that record. It does not always mean release to the community. A transfer to GDC, another county, federal authorities, or ICE can end a Murray County Jail custody record while confinement continues elsewhere.
Register Murray County Release Alerts
Registration begins from a matched person record. Supported delivery methods may include phone, email, text or SMS, in-app notices, and TTY. Options can vary with the record and portal. Choose a method that can be checked reliably, and keep confirmation details private.
- Select “Get Notified” or the equivalent option on the matching record.
- Add the available phone number, email address, text destination, app, or TTY method.
- For phone notices, continue to the PIN screen and choose a four-digit PIN.
- Complete registration and save the confirmation details in a secure place.
- When an alert arrives, verify the event with the agency shown in the record.
The PIN commonly confirms receipt of a call or helps manage the registration. It is not an inmate number. Notifications can be valuable for planning and personal safety, but a missed message, changed number, service outage, or feed delay can affect delivery.

Confirm Murray County VINE Results
For a local booking, call Murray County Jail and ask whether the person remains in custody, left on bail, was cited, was released on recognizance, or was transferred. The official county FAQ supports those release routes and lists the jail information number. A release record or court order is the better source when the exact time, reason, bond action, or transfer destination matters.
For a state-prison case, use the GDC Find an Offender search. GDC records can show custody status, location, sentence information, and a release date where available. The GDC page warns that photographs may display automatically and directs users to verify online information through Inmate Records and Information before treating it as complete. A person can be absent from Murray County Jail yet remain in GDC custody.
Federal and immigration custody require separate checks. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates, and the ICE Online Detainee Locator System covers qualifying immigration custody. VINE should not be used as a substitute for either. Data can also lag between an agency event and the alert portal.
County and state records answer different questions. The Murray County Jail record is tied to a local booking and can document bail, citation, own-recognizance release, or a transfer. A GDC result is tied to a Georgia prison sentence. It may list a state location, charge and sentence information, custody status, and a release date. A parole link or Tentative Parole Month belongs to the state process, not to a county bond release. The Tentative Parole Month is only a review month in which the Parole Board may set a later release date.
Court records add the legal reason. Murray County Superior Court handles felony cases, and the Clerk of Superior Court maintains criminal filings. A bond order, dismissal, sentence, probation order, or revocation record may explain an event that VINE reports only as a custody change. When the question is why the person left jail, the court file can be more useful than the alert itself.
A local call should be specific. Give the full name, approximate age or date of birth, arrest date, and arresting agency if known. Ask whether the person left the jail for the community, another jail, GDC, federal custody, or an immigration hold. If phone confirmation is not enough, ask which sheriff records custodian accepts a release or booking-record request. That sequence reduces the risk of treating a transfer as a completed release.
- Release
- Departure from the custody shown in a specific record.
- Transfer
- Movement to another jail, prison, or custody agency rather than release to the community.
- Discharge
- Completion or formal end of a custody or supervision status.
- Detainer
- A request or hold that may lead to transfer to another authority.
Note: A person missing from a live roster may have been released or transferred, so absence alone does not settle current custody.
Murray County HSI Notifications
The Murray County Sheriff's Office resource page links to HSI Victim Notification along with victim and witness resources. That route is distinct from Georgia VINE. It may apply to a specific federal or immigration-related matter handled through Homeland Security Investigations, while Georgia VINE remains the broad state custody-notification portal.
Neither service is a county release-record archive. HSI notification does not replace an ICE custody search, and a VINE alert does not establish a court disposition. When a Murray County Jail record ends after a federal or immigration handoff, ask the jail whether a transfer occurred and then use the receiving agency's system. Keeping each notification channel tied to its own jurisdiction prevents a transfer from being mistaken for release to the community.
The federal path is separate even when a person first appeared in a local booking. The Bureau of Prisons locator covers federal inmates and includes records for federal prisoners released after 1982. A past release date with no facility location indicates release from BOP custody, though another supervision or custody system may still apply. An immigration check uses the ICE locator, with an A-number and country of birth or biographical search data. Neither result should be folded into a Murray County VINE record simply because the same person appears in both systems.
Timing also affects the choice of source. VINE is strongest when notice of a new custody change matters. A sheriff booking record is stronger for the exact local release time and type. A court docket is stronger for a bond order, dismissal, sentence, or probation action. GDC is stronger for a state-prison status and release date. Selecting the record by question, rather than searching every portal as if each were interchangeable, produces a clearer account of the event.
If an alert and agency answer conflict, record the displayed status and the time it was checked. Then ask the agency that supplied the feed whether its source record has been updated. An error in a jail booking record goes to the sheriff or jail records custodian. A court error goes to the clerk or issuing court. A GDC time or sentence-computation issue follows GDC channels and may also require the Murray County Clerk when the county of conviction supplied the sentence.
For that reason, the agency named in an alert matters as much as the status text. Save the event details, then confirm them with the sheriff, GDC, federal agency, immigration system, or court that owns the next record.
